Clinical Omega-3 | Nutritional Supplements | Health Promotion

Molecularly distilled, concentrated EPA/DHA fish oil sourced from cold water Norwegian fish. A 1200 mg fish oil softgel containing 360 mg EPA and 240 mg DHA. Also includes a natural mix of tocopherols for additional antioxidant protection and orange oil for a pleasant flavor. Molecular distillation process ensures that no pesticides, PCBs or heavy metals are present.

Benefits of taking Clinical Omega 3 EPA/DHA

EPA/DHA are acronyms for eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, respectively. Whenever an animal eats vegetation/foliage, the body converts alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) into EPA and DHA. Most people have heard or read about omega-3 fatty acids; ALA, EPA, and DHA are the famous omega-3s (n-3 and n-6 are the abbreviation for omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, respectively). Fresh wild fish are the best sources of omega-3s and most supermarkets brands will indicate on the label if they are wild caught or farmed - best sources of omega-3s are wild caught.
Dr. Artemis Simopoulos is probably the most well known researcher in the field of omega-3 fatty acids. One of her excellent review articles is available (2), and it should be read to gain a great depth of information. At the bottom of this page you will notice that the two papers referenced on this page are available as free full texts from the publishers.

We typically think of eating n-6 and n-3 fatty acids in the context of their ratio within a given food. The general goal is to eat a diet that leads to an overall ratio that is below 4:1. The "ideal" goal is to eat a 1:1 ratio of n-6:n-3 fatty acids. We can approach this ratio by eating in the fashion discussed in The DeFlame Diet. Here are lists of foods with Anti-inflammatory and Pro-inflammatory ratios (3-5).

IODINE FROM KELP (NATURAL IODINE)

Kelp is naturally a rich source of nutrients, especially iodine. A healthy thyroid requires iodine to function properly. It utilizes iodine to manufacture the hormone thyroxine which supports metabolism. Our kelp supplement provides a vegetarian source of iodine. Current research also show iodine’s benefit for breast health.

Iodine research

In the United States the average intake of iodine is estimated to be 166-209 mcg/day, while in Japan 5280 mcg is ingested on a daily basis (1,2). More recently, it was estimated that Japanese take in 1000-3000 mcg/day (3). There is no known toxicity among Japanese with this supposedly “high” level of intake, and it appears to render Japanese women more resistant to breast cancer and fibrocystic disease expression (1). It appears that a supposedly “high” level of iodine is quite healthy:
"Japanese iodine intake from seaweed is linked to health benefits not seen in cultures with dissimilar diets. Knowing how much iodine the Japanese consume daily is beneficial for people who wish to consume equivalent amounts of iodine or seaweed supplements while avoiding excessive amounts that may adversely affect health” (3).
Despite the fact that the Japanese may consume up to 3000 mcg or more per day, without side-effects other than better health, we are condition to fear such “normal” levels. From Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease, one of the nutrition bibles in the Unites States we are given the following recommendations for iodine intake (4):

  • Women 150 mcg/d 1,100 mcg/d (upper limit = UL)
  • Men 150 mcg/d 1,100 mcg/d (UL)
  • Pregnancy 220 mcg/d 1,100 mcg/d (UL)
  • Lactation 290 mcg/d 1,100 mcg/d (UL)

The DeFlame Diet to Stop your Joints, Muscles, and Bones from Rotting

Chronic inflammation is a popular topic today, but do people really understand what it is? The answer is... NO.

Chronic inflammation is a low-grade, non-healing state that over time leads to tissue and organ degeneration. In common language, this means that your body is literally “rotting." This book outlines the biological rotting process as it occurs in body fat, arteries, joints, muscles, tendons, bones, and the nervous system, which leads to chronic pain, heart attacks, and depression.

The reason for framing chronic inflammation as a state of “biological rotting” is because people incorrectly believe that chronic inflammation is something that can be reduced with medications or supplements, or by eating specific “so-called” anti-inflammatory foods, without otherwise addressing the underlying causes. The primary causes of biologic rotting are sedentary living, a lack of sleep, mental/emotional stressors, and a pro-inflammatory diet.

This new DeFlame book focuses on how a pro-inflammatory diet causes the body to rot. The primary pro-inflammatory culprit is the overconsumption of refined sugar, flour, and oil, which amounts to almost 60% of the calories for many people. The result is chronic inflammation, which increases with weight gain that leads to obesity and the manifestation of the pro-inflammatory metabolic syndrome, which causes joints, muscles, tendons, bones, spinal discs, and the nervous system to chronically rot and never heal.

DeFlame Diet | Anti Inflammatory Program

Dr. Seaman coined the term "DeFlame" as a simple educational tool to help better understand the benefits of replacing pro-inflammatory foods with anti-inflammatory vegetables, fruit, nuts, and roots/tubers. He first identified that diet promotes inflammation based on research published in the 1970s and 1980s. Most have only begun to see this relationship in recent years. In contrast, Dr Seaman has written multiple articles and chapters on this topic over the past 25 years.
The DeFlame Diet is about eating anti-inflammatory foods to turn off the chronic disease-promoting "flame" created by pro-inflammatory foods. This is the first nutrition book for the general public that delves into inflammation in great detail, yet in a fashion that is understandable. Readers will never be confused again about what foods we should and should not be eating.

Stop your Joints, Muscles, and Bones from Rotting | DeFlaming Supplements

Chronic inflammation is actually a state of chronic "body rot". It is not something that can be reversed by only taking supplements or drugs. The diet must be DeFlamed, meaning refined sugar, flour, and oil calories need to be dropped or drastically reduced. In this video you will see how joints and body fat go through a rot process. After watching this video you will have a new appreciation for the true nature of chronic inflammation. Amazon for DeFlame books: https://www.amazon.com/David-R.-Seama...

Game Changers went FULL Tropic Thunder (Part 2) - Brutal errors about heart disease

In Part 2 of The Game Changers went FULL Tropic Thunder, I describe how they completely screwed up the nature of atherosclerotic heart disease to create another fiction story. The only utility of The Game Changers is that it highlighted the benefits of eating more vegetation...and they should have stopped there.

The Game Changers’ Brutal Lies | Health Promotion

More than likely you have heard about, or watched, a propaganda movie called The Game Changers. Many people have asked me about it and wanted my take on it. I reluctantly watched it because I figured it was just another propaganda hit piece on meat…and I was not surprised by the fact that it was absolutely a hit piece. What did take me a little by surprise were the brutal lies that were told. In this article, I will focus on two of the brutal lies, which should help you put the rest of the foolish movie into perspective.
If you did watch The Game Changers, you should remember the hamburger study, which was cited twice by James Wilks in a disingenuous fashion. First, he claimed that eating a single hamburger will increase inflammation by 70%. Second, he stated that eating a single hamburger will reduce blood flow by 27%.
The first thing that you should know is that the title of the burger article was shown for just a split second at 28:30 and is easily missed in the video if you were not interested in retrieving the article. I had to re-watch and pause it to actually see title of the article, which is:
Li Z, Wong A, Henning SM, et al. Hass avocado modulates postprandial vascular reactivity and postprandial inflammatory responses to a hamburger meal in health volunteers. Food Funct. 2013;4:384-91
Not only was the title of the article barely shown, Wilks also NEVER mentioned that avocados were included in the study. So, unless you decided to pause the movie and try to figure out the title of the article, you would never know that you were lied to.

Calories Matter – If You Want To Avoid Obesity | Health Promotion consultants

In recent years, many people have been convinced that counting calories is not necessary if you want to lose weight and then manage your weight properly. I do not understand this view; it is, in fact, quite foolish.

Calories in food come from three macronutrients, which include carbohydrate, protein, and fat. We get about 4 calories for every gram of carbohydrate and protein we consume. In contrast, we get about 9 calories for every gram of fat consumed. You can witness this math in action on the label of any packaged food. The total calories are provided based on grams of carbohydrate, protein, and fat contained in a serving size.

Whenever we exceed our caloric needs, the body stores the excess calories as fat in specialized cells called adipocytes, which are more commonly known as fat cells. There is an odd misconception that it is primarily dietary fat that stored in fat cells; which is COMPLETELY incorrect. If you were to eat a low carbohydrate and low protein diet, the primary calorie source would be fat. And if this diet contained just 1500 calories per day, you would lose body fat mass, and perhaps develop 6-pack abs, despite the fact that 1000 calories per day might come from fat, which is clearly a high-fat diet. So, clearly, consuming a mostly fat diet in this low calorie context, would lead to weight loss, not weight gain.

Health care expenses are extremely costly for small businesses and large corporations. And unfortunately, the average American worker is getting sicker (more inflamed) rather than healthy or properly “DeFlamed.”

How your diet causes breast cancer | Breast Health Promotion

How your diet causes breast cancer | Breast Health Promotion

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women. It is estimated that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Unfortunately, most women actually pursue breast cancer expression without knowing it. The DeFlame Diet for Breast Health and Cancer Prevention outlines the common pro-inflammatory dietary factors that promote breast cancer, which should be eliminated from the diet, along with strategies for “DeFlaming” your body. A “DeFlamed” body is at less risk for developing all chronic diseases, including breast cancer.

Drs Rosa And Seaman Write A Chapter In Jack Canfield’s New Book | Diet Book

A success plan for pain-free living: an antidote for the opioid crisis

As most people know, there is an opioid crisis in America. Not well known is that opioids have been one of the most common prescribed medications in America for several decades.
My friend and colleague Dr. John Rosa is an opioid crisis expert and functions as a White House Surrogate/Consultant and a Law Enforcement Consultant (Homeland Security, DOJ, DEA). He was asked by Jack Canfield’s people to write a chapter for Jack’s new book to be released in early 2019 entitled The Recipe for Success. As I have spent many years writing about pain and inflammation, he invited me to coauthor the chapter with him.
If you like the chapter and interview, you are welcome to share them on social media or however you choose.

How Sugar Causes Inflammation | Nutritional Supplements

How Sugar Cause Inflammation | Nutritional Supplements

There is an immediate low-grade, acute inflammation response to eating just 50 grams of sugar from a soda (16 ounces - 180 calories) or from flour carbohydrate in white bread (4 pieces - 260 calories). This was identified in young, lean, health individuals. The average American eats approximately 40% of their calories from sugar and flour products. This 800 calories per day in a 2000 calorie diet. So you can imagine why Americans are so flamed up. And the sugar/flour inflammation response is greater once the full flame state of obesity is achieved as outlined in The DeFlame Diet book.

The ALL Meat Diet | Anti-Inflammatory Food

In a certain sector of society that is interested in diet, the “all meat” or “carnivore” diet has emerged as a fad diet that is both embraced and criticized. Not surprisingly, those that embrace and criticize the all meat diet, are missing a couple of key points that need to be understood.
Point 1 – For modern day people, it is difficult to conceptualize how difficult it was to acquire food in pre-modern times. For my entire life, handfuls of food have been readily available. The same holds true for my parents who grew up in the 1930s.
Before modern times, humans had to “exercise” for their food – foraging for vegetation or hunting animals of the land, water and air. If you were from the Arctic Circle, your food options would be entirely different compared to those living in Arizona, which would be different than those living in Florida, which would be different than those living in Peru, which would be different than those living in the Amazon, etc.,

Bone Health Promotion | Deflame Programs

1. The anti-inflammatory diet (see The DeFlame Diet book)
2. Supplements
a. Osatate-Calcium Complex
b. Osatate-Calcium Complex and Basic Health Program
c. Osatate-Calcium Complex and Advanced Health Program
Bone health is a misunderstood topic. When people think about bone health, they focus extensively on calcium and little on anything else. This is a mistake. Bone should be viewed as a multifunctional organ, and like other organs and systems, bone health is substantially impacted by chronic inflammation.
The best way to promote bone health from a nutritional perspective is to eat anti-inflammatory as described in The DeFlame Diet book and to take either the Basic or Advanced Health Program supplements.

Digestive symptoms are extremely common in women and men. Women tend to suffer with irritable bowel symptoms, such as constipation and diarrhea, while men tend to suffer with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Fill up the gut with pro-inflammatory foods is not a wise daily choice for people with gastrointestinal symptoms. Accordingly, an anti-inflammatory diet is a positive choice.
